While we’re almost half way through October, it’s still shaping up to be a pretty big month for album releases. Here’s what to expect from just a couple of records out this month:
Feist – Metals
It’s been four years since the whirlwind success came around, following Feist’s release of The Reminder, including hit single ‘1234’ which featured on Apple iPod ads, earned her Grammy nominations and even a guest role on Sesame Street. Now Feist is back with a brand new LP called Metals. First single off Metals is ‘How Come You Never Go There’.
New Found Glory – Radiosurgery

These guys! Radiosurgery is New Found Glory’s seventh studio album. After featuring at music festivals all around the world earlier this year, Radiosurgery brings the boys back to their punk rock roots, and even features a sneaky collaboration with Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino on the track ‘Caught In The Act’.
Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto

So, Coldplay barely need an introduction. These boys have been gracing audiences with their live shows again during a recent music festival takeover. And while people argue their continued relevance, brand new tracks like ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ and ‘Paradise’, show a continuation of the anthems of Mylo Xyloto’s predecessor, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends
Ceremonials – Florence + the Machine
It wasn’t long ago that Florence + the Machine’s ‘You’ve Got The Love’ was playing in every corner of the world. Having her tracks featured on soundtracks to movies such as ‘Water for Elephants’ and the teen sensation ‘Twilight’ may have something to do with it. Florence is back with Ceremonials, a sophomore album which Welch claims is darker and spookier than her debut Lungs.
People and Things – Jack’s Mannequin
People and Things is the third album to be released by Something Corporate’s frontman, Andrew McMahon. Starting as a ‘side project’, Jack’s Mannequin has turned into a full priority for McMahon, not only helping through personal struggles with cancer, but bringing him more success than Something Corporate were able to achieve. People and Things sounds to be in the same light as their second album, The Glass Passenger. Having Andrew McMahon as my personal hero means WE SO EXCITED!
Australia’s answer to Britney Spears?
Elen Levon, a 16 year old from Bondi, has taken the Australian ARIA charts by storm, with her debut single “naughty girl” hitting #5 on its release.
Schoolgirl by day, performer at night, Elen has been able to balance the two efficiently, earning her a record signing with ministry of sound as well as a support act form 50cent, LMFAO, Black Eyed Peas and many more..
Her song Naughty girl, has the right formula to ensure that its no one hit wonder. People have already been comparing her to the next Britney, with her dance moves singing and musical talent, however this may be difficult for her to live up to, with Britney selling over 100million records world wide.
Australia has a lot of home grown pop stars, but rarely do we ever get somebody who actually has what it takes to make it on an international level. Elen is one of those rare few — She has the looks, talent, youth, and edge to become a star anywhere.
